THE STORY BEHIND THE HOLLY & IVY CHRISTMAS WISHES EDITION
I imagined Holly & Ivy as one of those charming little shops that might have stood along an old downtown Main Street many Christmases ago.
Picture the town on a December afternoon — storefront windows decorated for Christmas, evergreen garlands hanging above the doors, shoppers bundled against the cold and brown-paper parcels being carried home beneath the glow of the street lamps.
At Holly & Ivy, the shelves and counters would have been filled with Christmas trimmings, ribbons, greenery and special treasures brought out only during the holiday season.
I imagined the shop sending its Christmas packages out the door with a little “Christmas Wishes” tag attached — a simple holiday greeting from the shop to the person receiving something special.
That imaginary old downtown Christmas mercantile became the inspiration for my 2026 Holly & Ivy Christmas Wishes Santa Hat Tree Topper and the vintage-inspired hang tag I designed especially for it.
Each tag is individually printed, sealed and hand cut before being attached by hand with vstained cheesecloth, fabric ribbons, a rusty safety pin and rusty Christmas tree accent.
Inside, a coordinating Holly & Ivy Hat Shop label adds another hidden piece of the story — almost as though the topper itself had once been made and sold in that little old Christmas shop.
A little reminder of an old-fashioned downtown Christmas, when storefronts glowed, packages were tied by hand and Christmas treasures were made to be kept.
WHAT MAKES THE 2026 HOLLY & IVY CHRISTMAS WISHES EDITION SPECIAL
Each topper begins with the same handcrafted process as my original Santa Hat Tree Toppers and is individually stained and grunged in my studio to give it an aged, timeworn appearance.
The hat is embellished with hand-stained cheesecloth and fabric ribbons, rustic safety-pin details, a rusty Christmas tree accent and four large rusty jingle bells.
The Holly & Ivy • Christmas Wishes hang tag is my own vintage-inspired design created specifically for this collection. Each one is individually printed, sealed and hand cut before being attached by hand.
Inside, this year's topper has been upgraded with a premium coordinating fabric lining, creating a beautifully finished interior and another special detail that isn't immediately seen when the hat is displayed.
A coordinating Holly & Ivy Hat Shop label will complete the inside of the topper and tie it back to the imaginary Christmas mercantile that inspired the design.
