This Old Primitive Farm Exclusive Design
A wonderfully grungy little crow has gotten himself dressed for Christmas!
My handmade Santa Crow Poke is inspired by old-fashioned country Christmas décor and the wonderfully worn character of handmade folk art. With his weathered finish, floppy red Santa hat, rusty metal accents, and layers of tattered fabric, he looks as though he has been part of the Christmas decorations for many seasons.
Each crow is individually handmade and given a cinnamon-grunged, aged finish for a dark, timeworn appearance. He wears a festive red Santa hat that has also been distressed and aged so it blends beautifully with his rustic character.
Around his neck I've layered stained cheesecloth and torn homespun fabric, then finished the arrangement with a rusty jingle bell and safety pin. His body is wrapped with rusty wire and accented with a rusty metal star, adding another layer of texture and old-fashioned charm.
The crow is mounted on a natural twig, making each one just a little different. I finish the twig with additional torn homespun fabric for that wonderfully collected, make-do look.
Because I use natural twigs, the shape, thickness, bends, and character of the twig will vary from crow to crow. That's part of what makes each piece unique.
Measuring approximately 14" from the bottom of the twig to the top of the Santa hat and approximately 4" at the widest point, this is a fun size for tucking into Christmas displays without taking up a lot of space.
Place him in an old jar or crock, tuck him into a basket, add him to a Christmas tree, or work him into a cupboard, hutch, shelf, or holiday centerpiece. He looks especially fun grouped with old jars, greenery, Santa collections, snowmen, and other vintage-inspired Christmas treasures.
